Power in Transition? International Politics and Troubled Elections

Karl Rahder, independent scholar and journalist, and Maria Casa, Director, National Program & Outreach Administration at the Council on Foreign Relations led the 9th International Education Conference. At the conference, educators learned new ways to bring international politics into their classrooms and engage their students in the role of elections throughout the world. Through dynamic presentations, dialogues, and classroom activities, teachers gained practical and innovative curriculum ideas to guide students to make connections to the larger stories of the world.

Educating for Global Competence

The 4th IEC provided K-12 and post-secondary educators and administrators with information on internationalizing their curricula. Attendees received a copy of Educating for Global Competence: Preparing Our Youth to Engage the World. Participants worked in breakout sessions, divided by subject area, to learn about new ways to create engaging learning experiences through internationalizing classroom lessons.
3rd Annual International Education Conference

The 3rd IEC provided K-12 teachers and administrators with information and concrete tools for internationalizing their curricula. Presentations were made by Sister Schools Abroad, World Art Chicago, Global Classrooms, World Chicago, the Fulbright Association, and the CPS Office of Service Learning. The afternoon consisted of two separate sessions for middle and high school teachers.
